Cybersecurity: New Phishing Attacks

A new phishing email with subject field “Your USC Mailing certificate has expired!” is being sent to various people at USC.

WHAT DO I DO IF I RECEIVED THE EMAIL?

  • Delete the email. Do not click on the link.

WHAT IF I CLICKED ON THE LINK?

  • Please contact us and let us know exactly what you have done.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN THE FUTURE WHEN I RECEIVE THESE TYPES OF EMAILS?

  • Please check with us if the email is real or if it is a phishing email. Unfortunately, it is getting harder to distinguish a real email from a phishing/fake email.
  • Never click on the link since the link could redirect you to a fake site.

For more information place a request, call (213) 740-5297, or visit ANN L103 or ASC 124.
